VISION
|
 |
|
We are the Dream Generation, a generation that comes together
as Black, White, Brown, Asian, and Native American. We are
those born after 1964 who stand at the table of brotherhood
and sisterhood, on the shoulders of those who have fought
before us to give us a voice, and from this vantage point
we see the power in coming together and voting to ensure
that our voices are heard – for “silence is
betrayal.”
Hip Hop Vote 2008 is a voter registration and education
campaign, which registers young residents in urban communities
and on college campuses to vote in twelve states and Washington,
DC. The Hip Hop Vote 2008 campaign educates young people
to understand the key issues that affect their lives and
how to look for the candidates that are the best advocates
for their concerns. We register and mobilize new voters
via rallies, training sessions, community canvassing, postcard
and cell phone blasts, audio and video PSA messages, town
hall meetings and university campus events. Beyond the 2008
elections, the Hip Hop Caucus is dedicated to engaging our
community as an active and educated democratic force within
local and national government.
