Why 350?

This Earth Day we decided to celebrate African American leaders across all fields and professions who are making a difference in this world. Earth Day isn’t just about trees and parks, or recycling and reusing. It’s about all of us, on this one planet. It is a day to acknowledge what we all do to make this world a beautiful place to live, and also to commit to what we must do better.

We chose to honor exactly 350 courageous, creative and powerful leaders for a reason. As you probably are aware, we are facing a global challenge that threatens life on this planet as we know it – climate change. Science tells us we have to make some big changes now to ensure that things don’t get too out of control. Currently, there are about 388 Parts Per Million of CO2 in the atmosphere, which way is too high. It is causing the temperature on Earth to rise. Our global goal is to get us back down to at most 350 Parts Per Million of CO2 in the atmosphere. Want to know more about 350? Check out this video by our friends at
